As part of our commitment to holistic development and creative learning, the elementary students from Powerfields Schools visited the Oshodi Art Gallery, one of Nigeria’s treasured cultural spaces showcasing indigenous and contemporary artworks. Known for its rich curation of sculptures, paintings, historical masks, and installations, the gallery is a haven of inspiration for young minds.
From the moment the students walked into the gallery, the atmosphere was filled with curiosity and awe. Each room told a story, from pre-colonial traditions to modern Nigerian expressionism. Guided by curators and art experts, our students had the opportunity to ask questions, take notes, sketch artworks, and most importantly reflect on what each piece of art meant to them.
This memorable trip offered our learners a deep and inspiring dive into the world of African art, history, and heritage. It was more than just a field trip it was an immersive experience that awakened imagination, taught history through visual storytelling, and aligned beautifully with our international curriculum approach. While the gallery was filled with captivating visuals, the true learning happened when students began to draw connections between what they saw and what they’ve learned in school. Our Cambridge-aligned arts curriculum enabled learners to understand the themes of identity, heritage, symbolism, and storytelling embedded in the pieces they encountered.

The Oshodi Gallery excursion is part of Powerfields’ broader educational strategy to deliver experiential learningopportunities that shape the whole child intellectually, socially, emotionally, and culturally. Activities like this stimulate creativity, foster empathy, and encourage children to explore the world with curiosity and confidence. In line with Montessori nursery and primary school values, Powerfields believes art is more than just a subject, it’s a tool for cognitive and emotional development and this gallery experience served as a real-world extension of this philosophy.
At Powerfields Schools, learning isn’t limited to textbooks or confined within four walls. As one of the top private schools in Nigeria with admissions open for 2025, we are proud to deliver an education model that’s hands-on, inclusive, and full of real-world experiences.
